Health and Safety in the Marine Environment

Diving Centres personnel face several risks of workplace injury, divers and surface support personnel must be given suitable protective equipment. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) are essential in marine environment, they are considered as a first line of safety.

PPE is equipment that protects the user against particular hazard at work, It can include items such as safety helmets and hard hats for those dive in confined spaces such as caves, gloves for cold diving or due to the presence of dangerous structures, reinforced wetsuits to protect exposed and vulnerable body parts while diving in wrecks, personal flotation devices and lifejackets, gloves and suitable footwear for boat crew, etc. In addition every employee shall use any personal protective equipment in order to carry out the rescue at sea.
